Treasures from the Sicilean Seas

A talk by Dr Paul Roberts, Keeper of Antiquities and NADFAS Lecturer

Thursday 14 July 2016: 11.00-12.00

For 2500 years, Sicily was the place where great ancient civilizations met and fought - Phoeniceans, Greeks, Romans, Arabs and Normans. This lecture provides an introduction to the Ashmolean's major summer exhibition of objects rescued from the bottom of the sea - from chance finds to excavated ship wrecks. As well as being the Asmolean's Keeper of Antiquities, Paul Roberts is a NADFAS lecturer with a reputation as a lively and entertaining speaker.

The lecture has been aranged by Abingdon DFAS, but is open to all members of societies in the Wyvern Area. Those attending should make their own arrangements for entry into the exhibition - for further information visit www.ashmolean.org.
